Waking Up & Recovering Nicely
Alasdair is recovering from a successful surgery. We just spoke with the surgeon who said that things went very well. It was a textbook case he said. Alasdair ended up losing just under a quarter of his colon including his rectum and a portion of the sigmoid colon. He'll spend about an hour in recovery then arrive back here in his regular room.
As soon has he passes stool he should be able to start feeding normally. It sounds like we can expect that in the next 36-48 hours.
Moving ahead the biggest problem that he may face is some constipation, treated easily enough with OTC drugs or anything containing Olestra.
Thank you all for your support during all this, it's certainly a relief to be past this largest of hurdles. I really think we're on the homestretch from here.
